Conclusion
To know one life has breathed easier because you have lived- that is to have succeed. -Ralph Waldo Emerson
Mentoring was such an amazing experience! I could never have imagined a better semester than the one I had with my group of students. I hope they were able to learn from this experience through the many lessons and tips my partnering instructors and I were able to give them about life here at the University of Rhode Island. Leading up to this experience did not think about how much I was going to learn from being a URI 101 mentor. I learned many skills in facilitation such as making activities that can teach the students as well as let them relax and have fun as I felt my scavenger hunt achieved. I was also able to learn more about opportunities in pharmacy in many different fields to major or minor in concurrence with pharmacy. Doing this research for the students was also very beneficial to my own URI experience! I finally was able to learn about these individuals in my class not only through the survey they took to help them choose clubs based on their interests and goals but also through the week in week out interactions I had with them. As I stated earlier my main goal in mentoring was to help the students transition easily into college life and help them get the most out of their experience here URI. This is not something that is quantitative but just a simple "thank you" makes me feel like I have achieved this goal. The words above by Ralph Waldo Emerson is one of my favorite quotes and I hope I was able to make the lives of my students easier over the course of this semester and moving forward as well. I will continue to serve as a resource to them throughout their years here at URI. There are so many people I must thank for this experience but I want to especially thank my co- instructors Dr. Quilliam and Dr. Orr as well as my CSV instructor Kat Moniz. Finally, I would like to thank the students of URI 101 section 42 for being amazing all semester. Without these people my mentoring experience would certainly not have been the same. | Contact Us
