Annotation Two

Topic: Involvement

Goal Statement: To assess what type of organization would be suitable for each individual student and show them different organizations they can join.

Activities / Resources: I will construct a quiz that shows what type of student group suits the personal goals and objectives of the students.  It will  ask questions of their preferences in picking a group from different categories for each group.  I broke them down to categories such as Spirit organization, hobbies, diversity, service etc.  The category they chose most often on the quiz once the results are tallied tells which type of group may interest them the most.  I will then email out a list with different student groups broken down into one of these categories so the students can choose which fits for them.

Evidence:  I will include the quiz, the answer sheet, and the list of many popular student organizations on campus.

With this activity I attached the quiz that the students took to see what types of clubs they would be interested in and a short description on what each club did on campus.  These are the sheets the students filled out and brought to class where we discussed what clubs they could look into and check in with once they began joining these clubs.

Coming to college can be a stressful change in our life and not knowing where to get involved only adds to this stress.  Meeting new people is one of the best parts of going to college and getting involved with clubs and organizations is a great way to meet your lifelong friends. The problem is finding a club that will align with your goals and ambitions. Though, once you do, college life is much more enjoyable; which is why I set this activity up for my students.

What I did was set up a personality quiz  that helped the students pick the type of group that they would be interested in here at URI.  The questions ask about the preferences of the students to separate the groups into six different categories; spirit and campus involvement, multicultural, community service, hobbies, physical activity, and educational clubs.  I then complied a list of many different clubs that fall into the categories so the students have some background of these clubs that each specific student could get involved in and it is based their results from the quiz as a guideline.  These results helped the students get involved and they eventually had to write a short reflection.  This was another exercise that showed the diversity of the class.  It showed me what each student valued and what their goals for the futureThis promoted campus involvement with my 101 class.

The evidence I provided is the handouts the students received which include the quiz, the answer sheet where they put the answers on and recorded results, and the list of descriptions for different clubs around URI.
